Gotchas and troubleshooting

Things worth knowing before you hit them, and what to do when something doesn't work.

Sign-in and access

  • Use your Ragworks email and password. Signing in with Google isn't offered on the connector, even if you use it elsewhere.
  • Your login must belong to a workspace. If the assistant says your Ragworks login has no organization, sign out of the connector and sign in with the account you use in the Ragworks app.
  • "Sign in to Ragworks to use this tool." Your connection has expired or was never finished. Reconnect the connector and sign in again. A connection lasts until you haven't used it for 30 days, or for at most 90 days.
  • The Gemini app takes personal Google Accounts only. If you don't see + Custom on the Connected Apps page, you are probably signed in to Gemini with a work or school account. See Connect Gemini.
  • Each person connects on their own. A teammate can't use your connection, and on Claude Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds the connector but every member still signs in themselves.
  • You always work in your own organization. There is nothing to switch, and no tool takes an organization or user.

The Application Access Request page

The first time an assistant connects, Ragworks shows a page called Application Access Request before the login. It protects you from a program that pretends to be your assistant.

  • Check Credentials will be sent to. For Claude on the web or Claude Desktop it starts with https://claude.ai/ or https://claude.com/. For ChatGPT it starts with https://chatgpt.com/. For the Gemini app it starts with https://oauth-redirect.googleusercontent.com/. For a tool on your own computer, such as Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI, it starts with http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1.
  • Claude's and ChatGPT's own sign-ins also show a green Verified domain line, for example Verified domain: chatgpt.com. Tools on your own computer and the Gemini app don't.
  • Click Deny for any other address. The application name on the page is chosen by the assistant itself, so trust the address, not the name.
  • The small Why am I seeing this? text mentions FastMCP, the software the connector is built on.

Credits

  • A refusal tells you the numbers. When something doesn't fit your balance, the assistant says what it needs, what you have, the shortfall, and the largest batch that does fit. For example: "this needs 250 credits, you have 80, a shortfall of 170, and 32 leads fit." Ask for the smaller batch, or top up in the Ragworks app. The assistant can't buy credits.
  • The check assumes the worst case. You pay only for what is found, for example for the emails that are found, but the check assumes everything is found. If a batch is refused, try a smaller one.
  • AI work needs a positive balance. Writing a playbook, generating filters, regenerating copy, strategist reports and scoring an experiment run an AI model. They are billed by usage afterwards, so a few of them can take you slightly below zero.
  • If billing can't be read, nothing is spent. Tools that spend credits refuse, and tools that only read keep working. Try again in a minute.
  • Your lead sourcing budget still applies. If an answer says it is used up, see Lead sourcing budget.
  • Prices are your live prices. Ask the assistant for your balance to see them. Sending itself costs nothing. See How credits are counted.

Long-running work

Writing a playbook, regenerating copy, quickstart builds, strategist reports, enrichment, LinkedIn saves and saving leads with enrichment finish after the assistant first answers.

  • The assistant follows them for you. It checks every 20 to 30 seconds and tells you the step is running.
  • Don't start the same step again. Ragworks answers that it is already running. Ask how it is going instead.
  • You can leave and come back. The progress lives on the list or playbook, so ask again later, for example "How is the enrichment on 'UK fintech CFOs' going?" Asking for your lists shows each saved list's enrichment status.
  • You may get an email. When an enrichment of 25 leads or more finishes or stops, Ragworks emails the person who started it.
  • Most steps answer within 30 seconds. Steps that use AI or save many leads can take up to two minutes.
  • If a step times out, check before you retry. The assistant says the step may still have finished. It may also have been charged, so ask it to look at the list or your credit usage first. If the answer says nothing was sent and it is safe to try again, you can retry.
  • Your assistant has its own time limit too. Codex waits 60 seconds by default. See Connect OpenAI.

Big lists and missing items

  • Lists come back as summaries. To keep answers small, lists show a short row for each item and are cut at about 10,000 tokens. If the assistant says an answer was cut, or a list looks short, ask for fewer items at a time, add a filter, or open one item by name.
  • An item isn't found. Check the name, and that you are signed in with the account you use in the Ragworks app. Campaigns and saved lists are listed separately, so say which one you mean.
  • An empty first answer isn't proof. If a list comes back empty and you expect items, ask the assistant to look again or to check the other kind of list.

Tools and updates

  • Your assistant keeps the tool list it saw when it connected. After Ragworks adds a tool, switch the connector off and on to pick it up. In claude.ai, switch it off and on or refresh it. In ChatGPT, open the plugin, click Manage, and click Refresh tools. In Claude Code, do it in /mcp. For Codex and Gemini CLI, start a new session. In the Gemini app, disconnect Ragworks AI SDR and connect it again if a new tool doesn't show up.
  • Some features aren't on for every organization. If your organization doesn't have one yet, the answer says it is not enabled for your organization.
  • Your role decides some answers. Every member sees the same tools, but Ragworks checks your role on each call. Listing connected accounts needs an admin or owner role.
  • Claude's Free plan allows one custom connector. Remove another one first, or upgrade.

Staying safe

  • Five tools reach real people or can't be undone: launch_campaign, complete_campaign, start_experiment, complete_experiment and send_lead_message. Keep their approval on, and never let them run unattended.
  • Check how your assistant approves tools. In Claude, keep the write and delete tools on Needs approval (or Blocked), and remember that in Research mode connector tools can run without further approval. In ChatGPT, use Allow read-only tools or Always ask, not Allow all tools. In Gemini CLI, leave trust off. The Gemini app has no such setting: it asks you to confirm changes, so read what it proposes before you confirm.
  • Treat what leads write as untrusted. Replies, profiles and report quotes are written by other people. The assistant is told to treat them as data, not instructions, but read what it proposes before you approve it, especially messages that will be sent.
  • Some things are never possible through the connector. It can't delete or buy anything, and it writes to a lead only after you've seen the exact text and said yes. See What the assistant can't do.
  • Read a message before you approve it. send_lead_message goes to a real person and can't be unsent, and it takes the lead over from the campaign. Check the lead, the channel and the text. See Messaging a lead from your assistant.

Disconnect or start over

AssistantHow
Claude on the web or Claude DesktopOpen Customize > Connectors, select Ragworks AI SDR, and click Disconnect. Click Connect again to start over.
ChatGPTOpen the plugin on the Plugins page, click Manage, and click Uninstall. Add it again to start over.
Claude CodeRun /mcp and choose Re-authenticate or Clear authentication. Or run claude mcp logout ragworks, or claude mcp remove ragworks.
CodexRun codex mcp login ragworks again. To turn the connector off, set enabled = false under [mcp_servers.ragworks].
Gemini appOpen Customize > Connectors, scroll to Custom apps, and open the three-dot menu next to Ragworks AI SDR. Disconnect keeps the app in your list, and Delete removes it.
Gemini CLIRun /mcp auth ragworks again, or gemini mcp remove ragworks.

If signing in keeps failing, remove the connector and add it again. Assistants register themselves each time they connect, so a fresh start is safe.
